Love: Worldly or Spiritual?

When you form a bond with someone, you naturally want to do things for them. Take care of them. Serve them. Be there for them.
But what’s the difference between spiritual love and worldly love?
Worldly Love
In worldly love, you do things for someone and, somewhere, also expect something in return.
Maybe love. Maybe appreciation, validation, or recognition. And if we go even subtler—you want them to value the fact that you exist in their life.
There’s nothing wrong with any of those things. It’s just that they aren’t really spiritual. In spirituality, worldly love is deemed attachment.
Attachment? But Why?
Because there’s a subtle difference.
Spiritual love is doing things for the one you love... without wanting anything in return. No appreciation, validation, or recognition. Why, not even their presence.
You are ready to let go... because you love them enough to let them go and be at peace.
Worldly love has an “I” factor in it. Spiritual love, on the other hand, is entirely selfless—putting the other person’s growth and peace at the center of it all.
Won’t Spiritual Love Cause You Grief?
Of course it will.
It requires swallowing the bitter pill. And that’s precisely why many don’t venture down that path.
But if you truly want Nirvana, Moksha, liberation... whichever term your faith uses, you must start practicing spiritual love at some point.
Ultimately, it becomes a matter of choice.
In Short
Do you love them, and do they love you? That’s worldly.
Do you love them enough to let them go... for their own good? That’s spiritual.
